My dear boy,
I do hope that you are doing well. You are in my thoughts and prayers every day. Zeke and I often pray together that God would keep you safe along your journey and bring godly people into your path. I truly hope that you are continuing to make every effort to keep yourself well hydrated and take care of yourself. Young man, it is up to you to make sure that you eat plenty of vegetables and healthy fibers. No excuses!
Now, let me tell you some of the things that have been going on here at The Whispering Inkwell. I cannot even tell you how many things have been going on around here lately. My dear Mel has been just beside herself trying to keep up and I confess that I have been rather overwhelmed with everything myself. Between appliances falling to the wayside at an alarming rate, planning for multiple soirée’s, the bureaucracy of higher education, the frailty of compromised health and too many other things to count, I think that all of us here at The Whispering Inkwell could use a long trip to a far off sanitarium to settle our nerves and soothe our sensibilities.
Heavens, Frank by himself would be enough to send us all off to the sanitarium. Did anyone tell you about the day that he decided to climb up into a tree because he was curious about what an eagle had been looking at? Can you believe it? I about had the vapors just hearing about it. Then he had the audacity to then try and walk into the main house with all of that dirt and debris just pouring off of him all over the place. Well, I put a stop to that straight away. I quickly laid hands on the broom and nudged him straight back out of the house! Once outside I gave him a thorough brush down before sending him straight over to Zeke’s cottage for a proper shower.
Then the morning of the open house gala, I came into the kitchen first thing, only to find Frank in a complete debacle with Alli over whether or not he had danced the ‘correct’ rain dance for warding off rain for the coming event. Can you even imagine?! Of all of the things, that just wasn’t even Christian if you ask me. A rain dance for goodness sakes. What is Frank going to come up with next? I shudder to think. Then, before my eyes I see Frank trying to demonstrate this so called rain dance, WHILE holding a full cup of coffee that was was precariously near exiting the cup onto my freshly cleaned floors. Well, that was just unacceptable. I went straight up to Frank, took a hold of the cup of coffee, grabbed him by his earlobe and escorted him straight out the door. After depositing him outside the door in the rain, I handed him back his cup of coffee and told him he could drink it while he practiced his so called rain dance, OUTSIDE!
The local atmosphere here lately seems to have been taking lessons from Frank on instability. One day we were looking out of the parlor window to see a rather unusual sight. The entire horizon was obscured by a cloud of brown. Within just a few moments it looked like that cloud was not only moving closer, but swirling about somehow. It got close enough that we could see the brown debris swirling further and further up into the sky, heading straight towards The Whispering Inkwell. Not knowing what it could be and worried that it could possibly be some kind of tornado, we all banded together and prayed for safety from whatever it was. Then, right before our very eyes, it shifted just enough to pass by The Whispering Inkwell. Just as it made it to the road on the other side, we heard a loud clamour coming from direction of the door. I was quite concerned about what it might be. That is, right up until I heard a voice say, ‘Darlings! I’m home!’ So, when I say Harmony arrived in a whirlwind with her hair on fire, I mean that just about literally.
But, right in the midst of all of the choas there was the one little bright spot of pure joy. We had an opportunity to finally get to meet The Plaid Prince and I must tell you, we immediately fell in love with his precious face and sweet smiles. And in regards to my dear Mel, I think that the feeling was mutual as he took to her like a fish to water, delighted to be in her arms, where he smiled and cooed until the call of sleep overcame him as he nestled down into her arms. It was such a darling sight.
Until next time dear boy, keep your ears clean and be sure that you stay hydrated and eat your vegtables. Also a daily constitutional does wonders for the peace of mind and health, so put your walking shoes on and as they say these days, get your steps in.
Sincerely,
Mabel Pendergasp
