The Benadryl Haze

I have a fairly solid rule. No Benadryl for me unless I am going to be in the hospital. Maybe that sounds weird to you and maybe it doesn’t. For me Benadryl causes this awful foggy haze to come over me that can take a couple of days to come off of. When I am at home, this is problematic if i am to even have a prayer of mental clarity. However the hospital is another story. The theory being that if I am in the hospital (as a patient) I am not required to have mental clarity, and quite often would prefer to not have mental clarity. Well, normally thats all fine and sound, since in the past I have never been in the hospital for more than a couple of days and so haven’t received more than a dose or two which typically wore off after a couple of days. However this last week was a game changer. After being in the hospital for about 6 days, and receiving several shots of Benadryl, I find myself three days out and still struggling to pull my brain cells together. So, please forgive the wandering mind. The long and short of it is that I developed a post surgical infection on my right side and didn’t realize how sick I was getting until it was heading towards being too late. Thankfully though I managed to get to the hospital before the infection crossed over into my bloodstream. I will however have to save the rest of this story for later as it takes nothing to wear me out right now. Have a beautiful blessed day!
