Time for an update! It’s been quite a while since I’ve done any kind of real update so here’s a taste of what’s been going on. On the blogging front, I have published over 120 posts! In fact this post marks 125 published posts. My goal for this year was to be more faithful at getting a couple of posts done each week. Although I haven’t made that goal every single week due to outside circumstances, most weeks have seen that two posts a week. It has been a big goal for me this year to try to really kick the writing and blogging into next level gear. For the most part, on the blogging end anyway, it seems to be going very well.
Since the new year, the decluttering has slowed down. It hasn’t stopped by any means, but I haven’t been able to delegate as much time and energy to it as I would have liked. That being said, I have still managed to weed out several boxes and a few bags worth of stuff, so I’m excited to keep maintaining at least some progress. My goals in the next couple months include: Continuing to digitize some of my paperwork that has piled up over the last however many years. We have probably six? file boxes that are just paperwork. I really don’t think it’s possible that we would need to keep all of that. In most cases I think that a digital copy will be more than enough of a record. So, I am slowly working on going through that stuff and sifting out the paperwork that is old and no longer needed and scanning the stuff that we need at least a digital record of. Just to try and reduce the overall quantity of paperwork that we have. I am also hoping to continue plugging away on my youngest son‘s bedroom. It’s kind of a hot wreck and although we’ve been working on it slowly for a while now it still has a way to go. What makes it more challenging is that he’s kind of that awkward stage where he’s not quite ready to let go of certain kinds of youthful things and yet is ready to take take the next step into adulthood. So he has a broad variety of items taking over his bedroom. That could probably be a post unto itself, lol.
I am in the process of trying to get a little more serious about my YouTube channel. I have been recording some videos for my new YouTube channel, which will be called Mel’s Diary: Unscripted. Where I will talk about pretty much the same types of stuff that I talk about on the blog. But with a little more of the day to day, in the life of, with chronic illness, and things that I do to try and better manage my health, life and symptoms. Hopefully I’ll have some of the videos up soon. I finally got the intro for the channel done. At least as done as it’s gonna get anyway, lol. I have some different videos that I need to work on editing. One of the biggest issues I’m running into right now, is that for all the videos I’ve done, I still haven’t done my, introducing the channel video. However, I’m hoping to get that done in the next couple days. Barring anymore unforeseen chaos. Pray for me please. It’s been one branch of chaos around here after another lately.
Health wise, I’ve made a couple adjustments in the last six weeks or so. After doing some research on the thyroid, hormones and amino acids, I decided to try taking N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC). NAC is a specialized version of the amino acid, cysteine. My understanding of it is that NAC helps the body produce Glutathione, which works as a high powered antioxidant that goes through the body eliminating toxins and waste. Which for me looks like things that include thinning the drainage in my nasal passages so that the ‘junk’ in my nose is able to drain out easier and not just be a thick glob living inside of my head. It is also supposed to help reduce the kinds of inflammation that can prevent thyroid hormones from being properly processed. I’ll have to go into that more at another time but to sum up for the moment it has seemed to help with some of the sinus inflammation and I have noticed a reduction in the amount of overall rash that I break out in after exposures.
This week I also invested in a new air purifier. It is an Austin Air Bedroom Machine. Although terribly pricey, it had the most recommendations out of all of the options I looked at. It is supposedly able to filter at medical grade filtration that includes filtering chemicals out of the air. This will be massively beneficial for me as I react pretty strongly to the chemicals that the local farmers spray all over their fields. The purifier only arrived four days ago. On the first day I kept it in a separate room just so it would have a chance to filter and clear itself of any gases or dust from the factory or warehouse. So it’s only been running in the main part of the house for the last three days. Although I know it’s early to say, I did notice the last two mornings when I woke up that my inflammation levels in my sinuses were the lowest they’ve been in quite some time. I will have to do a further update with you guys on that soon. And the last big thing on my health update is, this upcoming week I will be going in for a dental surgery to deal with an infection from a prior root canal that was done improperly. The hope is that once the surgery is done and the area has had a chance to heal it will help resolve some of the swelling in my sinus on the left side. Hopefully it will also help to just kind of reduce the overall overload off my immune system.
Although that’s not even close to everything, I’m gonna call it a day for now before my brain officially resigns! Thanks for listening to the latest in the saga that is my life. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers more than I can say as I continue to navigate these challenges. But enough about me – how are you doing? Drop a comment below so I can pray for you in whatever ‘life’ is throwing your way this week.
