Be the Hero of Your Own Story

I am my own worst enemy. Seriously. Who gets in my way more than anyone else? Me. Who doubts my ability to make a difference more than any other person? Me. Who stifles my creative energy in a way that no one else can? Me. Ergo, I am my own worst enemy. That one person who can make it or break it for me more than anyone else is me.

However the silver lining to this is that I also have the ability to be the heroine in my own story. Who has the ability to change my future more than anyone else? Me. Who has the ability to change my creative energy from negative to positive? Me. I can be the heroine of my own story.

The power here is knowledge. By knowing that I am my own worst enemy and knowing that I have the power to make my future or break it, I have the ability to choose which future belongs to me. This is an ability that we all share. Free will. Each person has the choice whether to be the villain or the hero of their own story. Our days are filled with choices. We may not always get to choose what happens to us, but we still have the power to choose how we will respond to what happens to us.

Each day is a new day, filled with new choices. Yes, sometimes we will fail and fall, but each time we have the choice to stand back up and say, “Not today, satan.” And keep moving forward. Day by day. Minute by minute. Today we can choose victory.
