How quickly summer has slipped by this year. It seems like the more time goes by, the quicker the summers go. It seems like we just finished the last school year and here we are already a couple weeks into a new one. At the beginning of the school year it seems like there is always this moment, where you feel like you are in Lord of the Rings. “And so it begins……” flows through your mind like a deep, ominous, resounding beat. You are then filled with this incredible urge to head for the hills until this phase of life passes. No such luck. Instead, shoulders squared, we put one foot in front of the other and git er done.
Thankfully, we have managed to make it this far into the school year fairly unscathed. Granted, we didn’t jump right into full days. First, we stuck just our toes in the water and worked on getting our binders and such ready for the new school year. Pulled out some books to read. Made a library run. Added in a little home ect into the equation. Basically working on getting our ducks back in a line, getting that routine mindset going. Its been good.
So far, Im feeling better about this school year. I think we are a little better prepared. The kids have done a lot of maturing over this last year and I think that has helped make the transition smoother. On one hand I want to be excited that they have grown up so much and are maturing, on the other all I can see is puberty looking back at me and I just want to turn back the clock to my sweet, innocent babies, untouched by the hormonal fluctuations of teenagers.
