Write about what you know

Have you ever heard the saying, write about what you know? It’s amazing to think, man I have had so many experiences I have so much to say, wisdom to impart to the world. And then you sit down in front of your computer and your mind flatlines. You ever see the movie, Throw Mama From a Train? The Billy Crystal character is experiencing major writers block. He’s on a deadline and his mind has just flatlined. In this one scene he has driven out to a beach and is literally lying on a rock overnight trying to get his mind back in gear. I can relate to that thought process as I try to pull back from the flatline and sift though the abundant possibilities that are waiting to be heard.
